Democratic governors standing with illegal aliens and against their own citizens as they REFUSE to send their Guard troops to border

Democratic governors appear to be lining up to side with lawbreaking illegal immigrants over the safety and security of their own citizens, and those of the entire United States.

Since President Donald J. Trump announced that he would send thousands of National Guard troops to the U.S. southwest border to assist and support federal immigration authorities as they deal with waves of illegal migrants — many of whom have criminal records or are running drugs into America — at least two Democratic governors have come out and said publicly they would not allow their own troops to be utilized in America’s defense.

“If @realDonaldTrump asks me to deploy Oregon Guard troops to the Mexico border, I’ll say no,” Oregon Gov. Kate Brown tweeted Wednesday. “As Commander of Oregon’s Guard, I’m deeply troubled by Trump’s plan to militarize our border.”

She followed that up with this: “There’s been no outreach by the President or federal officials, and I have no intention of allowing Oregon’s guard troops to be used to distract from his troubles in Washington.”

On Thursday Democratic Montana Gov. Steve Bullock joined in, saying he will never deploy his Guard troops “based simply on the whim of the President’s morning Twitter habit.”

Next, expect California Gov. Jerry Brown, also a Democrat, to add to the refusal to lend Guard support to the invasion that is taking place along much of the U.S.-Mexico border.

It should be said that, under the authority Trump is using (there are two when it comes to calling forth the Guard), governors have the power to refuse him. It should also be said that Republican governors in the border states of Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas, are willing to assist.

Hardly on a “whim,” Trump noted in a Wednesday memorandum, “The situation at the border has now reached a point of crisis. The lawlessness that continues at our southern border is fundamentally incompatible with the safety, security, and sovereignty of the American people. My administration has no choice but to act.

The president noted further that national security was at risk from “drastic illegal activity” that included drug smuggling. In addition, Trump cited the threat of gangs crossing the border, including the notorious MS-13.

“The anticipated rapid rise in illegal crossings as we head into the spring and summer months threatens to overwhelm our Nation’s law enforcement capacities,” Trump wrote. Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security said a “surge” in illegal border crossings beginning in March has added to the “crisis,” citing a 37 percent increase in the number of people taken into custody by the U.S. Border Patrol.

DHS said that federal agents arrested or denied entry to more than 50,300 people in March — the highest one-month total since Trump took office and a whopping 200 percent increase over the same period in 2017 as crossings slipped to historic lows. DHS spokesman Tyler Q. Houlton said Thursday that the sudden increase was evidence “the crisis at our Southwest border is real.”

“Illegal aliens continue to exploit our immigration laws,” Houlton added. “We need to close these dangerous loopholes that are being taken advantage of each and every day, gain operational control of the border, and fully fund the border wall system,” he further noted in reference to Trump’s $25 billion border security plan that a Republican-led Congress refuses to pass.

Maybe if Congress would do the right thing the border wouldn’t have to be “militarized,” as Gov. Brown frets (though it makes one wonder if she minded when Obama did it in 2010).

These two Democratic governors can make any excuse they want for defying Trump, but the inescapable fact is this: The president and DHS have identified a problem of “crisis” proportions facing the country, and they have chosen to side against the American people and with the lawbreakers.
