When Trump is critical of improper FBI behavior it’s treason, but when the Left criticizes ICE for doing its job that’s called “heroic”

The American Left is a lesson in abject hypocrisy, and there isn’t a day that goes by when they don’t offer a plethora of examples.

Last month Democrats routinely suggested that President Donald J. Trump was being “treasonous” in criticizing some FBI and Justice Department officials for improperly obtaining a warrant to spy on his campaign.

Some of these same people are now hammering Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents for doing their job — arresting people in the country illegally.

In recent days lawless Democrats in California have scrambled to every media microphone they could find to denounce ICE following an operation in the state.

One of the most lawless is Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, a new hero to the Marxist Left for ‘defying’ ICE and the Trump administration by leaking word to her illegal immigrant community that the agency was planning a major operation to round up nearly 1,000 people identified as being in the U.S. illegally.

ICE estimated that around 800 of them managed to escape; more than half of them were criminals, and some of those individuals had been convicted of violent crimes and indecent sex acts.

“I hope we take this moment to recognize that we have to fight against the racist myth that the Trump administration is trying to perpetuate — that immigrants are dangerous criminals,” Schaaf said. “There is nothing further from the truth. This is racist and it is false. Ample evidence shows that American-born citizens are actually more likely to commit crimes than immigrants.

“Just as I’m being criticized I’m also being thanked,” the mayor said. “Thanked for standing up for our most vulnerable residents that often don’t have a voice. I am hopeful that it gave comfort and security to many people in Oakland.”

Notice how she said “residents,” not citizens. Because they’re not citizens; and they are in the U.S. illegally. Let us never forget that.

And besides, acting ICE Director Thomas Homan wasn’t ‘perpetuating a myth’ when he countered that yes, some illegal immigrants certainly are dangerous — and Schaaf protected them to the detriment of American citizens living in her city.

“Sanctuary jurisdictions like San Francisco and Oakland shield dangerous criminal aliens from federal law enforcement at the expense of public safety,” Homan said. “Because these jurisdictions prevent ICE from arresting criminal aliens in the secure confines of a jail, they also force ICE officers to make more arrests out in the community, which poses increased risks for law enforcement and the public.”

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra had to get in on the media spin as well, telling reporters following the ICE operations his office was in the process of “gathering more information on this week’s ICE operation while encouraging immigrants, employers and others to know their rights,” the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

“It’s becoming sadly clearer that ICE is losing its focus on immigration enforcement,” Becerra said. “Rather than focus on people who are dangerous criminals, we hear ICE may be terrorizing communities, including family members who are citizens.” (Related: SESSIONS unleashed in California: ‘How dare you’ protect illegals, endanger federal agents’ lives.)

Straight up, that is a lie. ICE isn’t “terrorizing” anyone; the men and women of the agency are enforcing existing U.S. laws. What’s more, there is nothing in ICE’s charter or in the federal code books that says immigration enforcement should only pertain to “violent criminals.” While it behooves the Trump administration to go after them first, anyone who is in the country illegally is subject to arrest and deportation.

But then again, ICE agents were attempting to do that — arrest the worst of the worst — and Schaaf tipped them off that agents were coming.

The bottom line here is that California’s Marxist Democrats want to protect a power base and a prospective voting bloc, that’s it. And they’ll do it even if it means endangering American citizens in the process.
